Joseph Rose was born in April 1778 at Hill Farm, Lower Winchendon Buckinghamshire, the youngest son of Thomas Rose (1740-1809) and Susanna Bailey (1743-1778). He was articled on 6th September 1794 for a period of 5 years to Edward Adams an Attorney in Aylesbury which cost his father £100.
He was a nephew of Joseph Burnham who owned Ceely House and died in 1799 leaving the house to his widow and nine nephews and nieces. Joseph bought out the shares of his relatives and became the sole proprietor of this house where he was living at the time of the 1841 census.
Rose and Parrotts was a partnership between Richard Rose (1809-1883), William Parrott (1813-1880) and Joseph Parrott (1819-1884). It was formed on 6th April 1848 following the death of John Parrot (1746-1848) and the decision by Joseph Rose (1788-1858) to retire from practice. This successors of this partnership are still active in Aylesbury today.
