SW 63 SW CROWAN CLOWANCE

Small house, within the grounds of Clowance estate. Circa early C19. Killas rubble with dressed granite quoins, jambstones, sills and lintels. Three
quarter hipped scantle slate roofs, sweeping lower over rear left and over
later lean-to on left. Brick chimneys over the original side walls. Cast iron ogee gutters.
Plan: 2 room plan with vestibule and stair between, the left hand room a kitchen with a shallow service room in the integral outshut behind. The slightly later lean-to, left, runs the full depth. 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 2 window roughly south front with doorway slightly left of middle. Circa mid C20 top-glazed door and 4 paned horned sashes. An original horizontal sliding sash survives at the rear.
Interior not inspected but said to be little altered in the C20.
An unspoiled C19 house, essentially unaltered since the C19 and complementary to
other buidlings within the Clowance estate.
