Howden Hall is the ancestral home of the Robert Chaplin family whose family member, Elizabeth Chaplin Wilkerson, was the last of the Chaplins to live there. Many of the beautiful silver and China pieces from Howden Hall were bequeathed to the Castle Museum in York by Mrs. Wilkerson and her brother.
