3/34 The Old Rectory

House. Probably mid C18 origins: later additions to right, C20 projecting
porch. Reddish-grey brick, pantiled roofs. Irregular plan. Main range of
2 storeys, 3 bays with additional, separately gabled, cross-range to left.
Main range has canted bay to left rising through full height of house:
sashes with glazing bars to sides only. To the right is scattered and
greatly altered fenestration of sashes with glazing bars and a small window
probably occupying the position of the former central door. First-floor
band. First floor: sashes with glazing bars to sides of canted bay to left,
to centre a large 16-pane sash with sill, to the right sash with glazing
bars and sill. Stepped brick eaves cornice, raised coped gables, end stack
to left, front roof stack to right. Gabled range to left has double sashes
with glazing bars-in shallow projecting bay to ground floor. First floor:
16-pane sash with sill under cambered gauged brick arch. Raised coped
gables on shaped kneelers. Broad side-wall external stacks to left, now
reduced to eaves level. Included for group value.
