9/228 Trerose Farmhouse

GV II


Farmhouse. C18. Extended circa later C18. Grouted rubble walls with slate hanging
to upper floor of original part of house. Steep dry Delabole slate roof sweeping
lower at rear to original house and scantle slate roof at slightly lower level with
hipped end on the right. Large rubble stacks over the original gable end axial brick
chimney over cross wall towards right.
Plan: Original double depth plan house on the left, later C18 1-room-plan addition
on the right and another 1-room-plan addition at far right. Original house has 2
fairly large front rooms flanking a central cross passage; probably back kitchen
behind left-hand room, heated by external stack and probably pantry behind the right-
hand room plus later lean-to at left-hand end.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Overall 5 window south-south-east front, with nearly
symmetrical 3 window front of original house on the left. Central doorway with
original or C19 4-panel door with top panels later glazed. Circa early C20 glazed
porch with marginal panes. Windows are circa late C18 or early C19 20-pane hornless
sashes in original square openings. 2 window front right of the original front has
similar window at first floor left, otherwise later C19 windows.
