Byre and cartshed approximately10 metres north-west of Chawleigh Barton

Byre and cartshed. Circa 1877. Exposed local stone rubble; slate roof. Gable-
ended range facing south-west housing a cartshed at the right end, byres with
hayloft over in the centre and tallet at the left end. The front has a wide
carriageway to the cartshed at right end and 2 doorways to byres, all with
segmental arches over. Hayloft loading hatch between the byre doorways. At the
left end external wooden steps lead up to an open-fronted tallet with a door below
to small store. The doors are made of upright planks reducing in width towards the
top to produce a ventilator grille. Included for group value.
