East of Bowden.

GV II

Stables and integral coach house to Bowden House (qv). Circa early
Cl9/probably 1823, the date of the remodelling of the house. Local slate
rubble. Asbestos slate roof with gabled ends.
Plan: Long rectangular plan with the coach house at the left end with a
pair of doorways at the front and a loft above and an integral stable at the
right hand end with a doorway at the front and a hay loft above. The lofts
have access from the rear where the ground level is higher. At the right
hand end there is an open-fronted lean-to, which might be a cart-shed.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical east front. The coach-house to the left
has a pair of doorways with C20 double doors and C19 6-pane pivot? window to
the left of an opening with a flat arch. Above the coach-house doors 2
similar small 4-pane windows under the eaves. To the right the stables have
similar but 6-pane windows to the right and a doorway to the left with a
plank door, and both with flat stone arches. Above is a row of pigeon holes
under the eaves.
The rear elevation has doorways at the higher ground level.
Interior: The stable stalls have been removed but the staircase in the
coach-house remains.
