Pair of houses, now a public house and shop. Circa 1835, with later C19 and C20 alterations. Stuccoed probably stone rubble. The end gables and parapets conseal the slate roofs which are hipped and have central valleys. Brick gable end stacks. Plan: Symmetrical pair of large double depth houses with pair of adjoining doorways at the centre and principal front rooms to left and right. The left hand house (Kings Arms) has a verandah with first floor balcony above and a single storey extension on the left hand end added later in the C19, possibly when it was turned into a public house or inn. The right hand house (Clifton House Stores) has a C20 bay shop window on the ground floor and is now shop premises. Exterior: 3 storeys. 2:2 window front, originally symmetrical, stucco ground floor, band at first and second floor levels and parapet with cornice; first floor windows in moulded architraves. All the windows have been replaced except for ground floor left which is a sash with glazing bars, the first floor French casements and second floor replacement 12-pane sashes. First floor and ground floor windows of Clifton House Stores to right have been replaced by C20 plastic windows and on the ground floor a C20 wooden bay shop window. The Kings Arms to left has an elaborate cast- iron verandah with balcony above supported on moulded columns with large ornate capitals and open ironwork spandrels, balustrades and cresting over cast-iron eaves gutter. At the centre a pair of original stuccoed porches with square columns and establative canopies; the Kings Arms has late C20 glazed door, Clifton House Store's porch has infilled sides and glazed door. To left a single storey late Cl9 extrusion on side with canted bay window at front and doorway in splayed corner with late C20 glazed door. The rear elevation overlooking the sea is much altered and has large extensions. Interior: Only the shop and bars of the ground floor were seen, and have no original features.
