Description

BRADNINCH FORE STREET (east side),
SS 90 NE
Bradninch
12 + 11/18 Nos. 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11
-
GV II
A row of 5 cottages forming part of an unbroken row of dwellings extending along
the entire eastern side of Fore Street. Rebuilt after the 1832 fire. Cob, stone
plinth, under slate roof. Each 2-cell dwelling shares an axial stack, all stacks
with brick shafts; 2 of these are large and the brickwork looks pre-1830s, and
probably represent the only survivals of the fire. Except for no. 3, all upper
windows are C19 2-light casements, 6 panes per light. The original planked door
survives at no. 7; and C19 ground-floor casement windows only for nos. 7 and 11.
Interior of no. 7 inspected, and showed no evidence of any pre-C19 work. Carriage
entrance adjoins no. 11.
