Farm Cottage
- II
Two cottages, probably originally one with outhouse later converted. C17 or
early C18. Painted rubble, plain at back, thatched roof. Interior not acces-
sible and plan not determined, but form suggests 2-room cottage with stair
turret back, right and with gable stacks; to left (Thatchers End) a bay, poss-
ibly added, with external gable stack and deep swept-down roof to back. Two
storeys, 1 + 2 windows. Left part has 2-light casement with glazing bars, and
plank door to thin wood lintel, in heavy frame with ovolo-mould, return gable
has C20 opening and door, and a 2-light casement. Home Farm Cottage has two
2-light casements, one of C20, under two close-set glazing bar casements with
narrow section of wall between. Left is glazed C20 door in opening to wood
lintel. Back, centre has 2-light glazing-bar casement and a small square light
to stair turret. Interior probably modified.
