Farmhouse. Probably a C19 remodelling of a C17 house. Colourwashed rendered cob on
stone rubble footings; left end stack with bread oven, rear lateral stck with tall
brick shaft; slate roof, gabled at ends.
Plan: Interior not inspected, plan form therefore not clear at time of survey but
possibly a 3-room and passage arrangement, lower end to the right, 2 heated rooms to
the left;. front door to right of centre said to lead into a passage. Very shallow
projection to rear left; single storey lean-to to rear right and centre.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 5 window front with regular fenestration and a
gabled C19 trellis porch to right of centre with curly bargeboards; panelled front
door probably into through passage. French window to left of centre, fenestration of
C19 16-pane timber sashes except the 2 ground floor windows right of the porch which
have fixed grilles. The 4 windows and a door, 2 windows to the first floor of the
main block, one to the ground floor. C20 gabled projection to right of centre,
shallow projection (possibly for a former stair) to the right.
Interior: Not inspected, said to be plain with no exposed ceiling beams (information
from occupier).
An attractive evolved house on a conspicuous site facing the road.
