2 adjoining cottages, formerly 3 cottages. Probably C18. Whitewashed and rendered
with a bitumen-painted slate roof, gabled at ends; axial stack and right end stack.
Plan: Single depth plan, No 1, to the right with a front door to the left; No 2 with
a front door to the right formerly consisted of 2 buildings, the left hand half
described as a 'workshop' in the C19. (Bentley).
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3+2 window front, the porch to No 2 recessed with
a low wall flush with the front elevation; adjacent front door to No 1. Small timber
2-light casements, C19 and C20, with glazing bars except for 1 late C20 window,
ground lfoor left.
Interior: Not inspected but may retain features of interest.
An attractive range in the centre of the village, opposite the entrance to the
church.
Bently records the occupations of the inhabitants from the 1871 census as an
argricultural labourer, his wife and 'pauper' mother-in-law in No 2 and a shoemaker,
his laundress wife and 2 children in No 1.
