Farmhouse, now house. Late C17, front range added mid C18 with early C19 and C20
alterations. Rubble, rendered and lined out, rear whitewashed, slate roof with
asbestos slates to right, gable stacks with pitched slates to vent to right.
2 parallel ranges. The rear range is the original late C17 house, of 3 rooms and
through passage plan. In c. mid C18 a 2 room and central entrance and stair hall
plan addition was built on to the front and the original house because the service
range at the rear with the dairy in the lower end room. Partition walls to each side
of passage in rear range have been taken out.
2 storeys and 5 windows, at first floor all 16-pane sashes in exposed boxes, ground
floor 4 sashes, all C20 replacements, central flat roofed porch with half-glazed
inner and outer door, wooden benches to sides, 3-pane light to each side and cornice,
wooden eaves cornice overall. Right return has wide stepped external stack with
slate weatherings, 2-span roof to lower 2-storey rear range, 2-light casement with
cambered head at ground and first floor, both with 8 panes each, different sizes.
Left return has blank gable end to front range, single storey addition to left of
C20, weatherboarded with 4-pane light and door, gable end of rear range has external
stack with slate weathering. Rear has C19 and C20 irregular fenestration, first
floor has three 2-light casements under eaves, to left C20, 2 to right of 8 panes
each and C20 6-pane light second from right; ground floor has 3-light 8-pane casement
with cambered head left and right, second from left C20 plate glass window with
cambered head, second from right C20 glazed porch with half-glazed inner door.
Interior: lower end room in rear range, former dairy, has stone floor, sloping for
drainage and stone shelves, dairy of one build with rest of rear range. Front range
room to left has 2 C18 shaped shelves in recesses with panelled lower doors, open
well stair in entrance hall with turned balusters and ball-finials to plain newels,
panelled doors, front left room has cupboard with panelled doors, bar hinges and
drawer at bottom.
