A Grade II Listed Building in Woodchester, Gloucestershire

Home Farm South Woodchester in 1972

This is how Home Farm looked shortly after my family moved in after we left our then home in Dorset. Home Farm used to be occupied by Cathleen Turner and her husband who ran the property as a Butcher's Shop. The oblong slab over the front window was the roller blind over the shop window for customers to see the produce on display. At the back of the kitchen was a small slaughter house used in the days when home slaughtering was done. Down in the huge cellar there were meat hooks in the ceiling beams that were used to hang meat. The cellar was as cool as a pub cellar.
