2.
Long range of buildings. On right C16 timber framed building of 2 storeys,
3 windows, with jettied first floor and plastered front. On left C17 section
of 2 storeys, 2 windows, brick, with plastered ground floor. Left section
first floor windows 2-light casements with glazing bars in near-flush, box
frames. Right section first floor 3-light casements in slightly projecting box
frames. On ground floor 3 shop fronts of C19 appearance, though they may be
later additions. Door at right of centre shop window now altered to window.
Entrance at right has curious doorcase of short, fluted columns on high plinths,
with quasi-Ionic capitals, cut-work frieze and dentil cornice. It looks as
though made from a piece of furniture, such as a dresser.
