Bridge. Late C18. Gritstone arches, wrought-iron railings. 2 shallow
arches with rusticated voussoirs and round cutwaters carried up as pilasters
to projecting band at road level. Railings: bars and dog-bars with urns and
scrolls to finials; terminals have elaborate scrolled panels decorated with
urns; those at west end on each side retain their original scrolled finials.
The bridge carries the main drive from Studley Royal House to Ripon Low
Lodge (qv) which forms the main vista between St Mary's Church (qv) and
Ripon Cathedral.
