Inn. C18. Ham stone ashlar; thatched roof between coped gables; brick end and intermediate chimney stacks. 'L'-plan; 2
storeys, 4 bays. Sash windows in plain openings, in pairs of 12-panes to outer bays, and 16-pane to inner bays. Between
bays 1 and 2 a C19 door in architraved opening, under a timber hood with hipped shingle covering, above which is a
projecting hanging sign on wrought-iron bracket. Casement windows to first floor and attic of east gable: lean-to and
rear extension with thatched roofs. Interior altered in public rooms. Known as the Hare and Hounds Inn by 1770, the
name was changed to the present title c1824 (VCH Somerset, Vol IV, l978, p40).
