GV II

Former open hall, latterly barn, now cowshed. Probably C14 or C15 with
extensive late C20 alterations. Timber framed of cruck construction now
entirely clad in corrugated iron except for weatherboarded north-east gable
end, steep-pitched corrugated iron roof. Three C20 eaves hatches on south
side with 5 stable doors to left and right and wide central doorway. Interior:
5 framed bays formerly open to roof, now with loft inserted; 6 massive true
cruck trusses with cambered upper and lower collars, 5 with Alcock apex type
B and one in end wall with apex type V; dog-leg shaped windbraces forming
crude lozenge patterns, partial smoke-blackening. Upper Farmhouse is not
included. Alcock (1981), p.143.
