Bridge. C19, for the Gosselin family, probably by George Devey
who rebuilt Blakesware 1876-9. Red brick with moulded limestone
dressings. A single arched road bridge over the River Ash - on
the line of the old road to Ware. A 3 brick semi-circular arch
with humped parapet. The curved parapet brickwork courses are
struck from the arch centrepoint. Ogee weathered moulded heavy
stone copings. Arch flanked by square pilaster piers with 2
stone offsets and square moulded caps. Outswept quadrant
abbutments with stone copings curving down to low square piers
with moulded stone copings. Part of a picturesque group with
Widford Lodge at this entrance to the park of Blakesware.
