GV II

Statue. C18. English, after the Borghese Gladiator and a late Roman
marble statue now in the Louvre. Lead figure on limestone pedestal. A
lifesize figure facing N and leaning forward with right leg bent and
advanced and left arm extended forward. The right hand grips the hilt of
a broken sword and the left arm is bandaged (or has been mended). 1½M
high rectangular stone base with bold mouldings of base and cap carried
round apsidal projections to each end.
