2/25 Steps and elevated terrace in
garden of No.1 Enmore Castle

GV II

Steps and elevated terrace. Probably mid C19 for Broadwood family. Terrace on rubble plinth, stone vase balustrading
with moulded stone handrail; pair of central stone piers with fluted stone urns. Two pairs of piers at each end with
further urns, one urn missing at time of re-survey (January 1985), giving onto 2 flights of 6 stone steps again with
conforming vase balustrading; at bottom of each flight, piers with ball caps. Section of rubble wall to each end of
terrace with a dressed stone coping, further piers with finials. Included primarily for group value with Enmore Castle
(qv). An entertaining garden feature.
