Farmhouse. Early C19 but incorporating parts of an earlier house. Red
brick, slate roof with end stack to right and another to left behind ridge.
C19 house L-shaped with short range at right-angles to rear on left; lower
L-shaped block behind to right has C19 appearance, but is probably part of
an earlier house. Two storeys; 3-window front, glazing-bar sashes with gauged
heads; central entrance, pedimented doorcase with half-glazed door and fanlight. The early C19 re-modelling was probably carried out for Richard France,
father of the Richard France who founded the nearby non-conformist chapel
(q.v. under Plealey Methodist Church) in 1828. V.C.H. VIII (1968), p.255.
