CARLTON TOWN VILLAGE STREET SE 0684-0784 (north side) 16/89 House to west of Clovelley Dene GV II

Stable, now house. Mid - late C18. Coursed rubble, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 4:1 first-floor openings. First 4 bays: plinth. Quoins. In third bay, 4-pane sash window in surround of chamfered quoined doorway, formerly paired with doorway in second bay which is now altered by formation of garage door. In fourth bay, paired 4-pane sash windows separated by flat-faced mullion. Other windows: 4-pane sashes in wide ashlar surrounds, with extended lintels on first floor. Fifth bay: slightly recessed, and rebuilt in C20, with carriageway on ground floor with timber lintel and C20 triangular-headed window above. Shaped kneeler and ashlar coping to left. Ball finial on ridge between second and third bays. Included for group value.
