1777. By James Paine and Kenton Couse. Widened 1937. Portland stone. Five moulded
segmental arches, rising gradually to the centre, which has the widest and tallest
arch. Two land-bound semi-circular arches. Moulded semi-circular cutwaters.
Bracketed cornice. Balustraded parapets, solid over cutwaters, above which are iron
lamp standards. Now the oldest bridge over the Thames within the boundaries of
Greater London.
