A terrace of cottages for the Ickworth Estate, with C18 core; cottage no. 1 was
the village school. 2 storeys. Timber-framed, rendered walls, thatched roof; a
pedimented gable on brackets at eaves level has a circular window with glazing
bars. Axial red brick chimneys have a central stone arched niche between 2
square flues, mimicking the arcaded belfry openings on the Church tower
opposite. 3-light wrought iron casements with small oblong panes; some lights
have semi-circular heads, and some first floor windows are of Venetian form
with traceried render panels and eyebrow dormers above. Boarded entrance doors
with gabled canopies on carved brackets; fish-scale tiled roofs and ornate
bargeboards. Restored c.1980.
