House,C15 or early C16. An open hall house, of which 2 altered cells remain
(the parlour cell to right may have been removed in C17). 2 storeys and
attics. Timber-framed, the close-studded framing fully-exposed with plaster
infill panels. Plaintiled roof with an axial C17 chimney of red brick with
sawtooth shaft. Mainly mid C20 casements with leaded glazing. Late C20
boarded and battened entrance door at gable end. Several altered C15
features, including blocked 4-centred arched cross-entry doorway and full-
height open hall window also blocked. The right hand gable was rebuilt in C17
with tension studbraces and an oversailing gable tiebeam with console brackets
beneath. The service cell walling to left was remodelled/rebuilt in C17, and
a tarred red brick plinth of C18/C19 underpins the entire building.
