ELLAND CARR HALL LANE SE 081195 6/19 Cross Farm House and attached barn

Laithe-house. Early C18 with C19 additions. Thin coursed hammer-dressed stone, whitewashed and rendered in parts. Stone slate roof, cross-wing has coped gables with moulded kneelers. The building lies under three different roof- lines; the lowest being the central portion which has on its south front a centrally placed doorway, flanked by one large much altered window to left and a 3-light flat faced mullioned window to right, with 4-light mullioned windows (2 mullions removed) and a 2-light mullioned window, and 2 single lights above first floor. To left is 2-storey cross-wing with projecting quoins and band, which has doorway with slightly projecting monolithic jambs and 2-light flat faced mullioned windows to ground floor with same above. Gable stack. Rear has feature of keyed arch to barn with rusticated keystone, entry now blocked and forming internal porch to house, which has doorway with monolithic jambs and 6-panelled door.
