Farmhouse. C17, possibly of 2 building periods. Squared, coursed limestone with
ashlar quoins and coped gables. Stone slate roof with ashlar ridge and end
stacks with plinths and moulded cornices. 2 storeys plus attic; 3-window range.
L-shaped plan, with gabled wing facing road to right. To ground and first floors
of gable a 4-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window with king mullion. 3-light
ovolo-moulded mullioned window to attic To centre of building a C20 two-light
mullioned window in place of original doorway, the quoins still remaining. To
left a renewed 4-light mullioned window. To first floor a 3-light mullioned
window to left, with a 2-light mullioned window to centre, all with straight
chamfers. All windows have hood moulds and label stops. Small skylight in roof.
In gable facing road a small stone sundial. Right side of gabled wing has
further 4-light ovolo-moulded mullioned windows with king mullions, and 3-light
wood casements with wood lintels. Some windows have panes of original glass in
leaded lights. Some C20 wood casements, and a C20 one-storey stone extension to
rear. C19 outbuilding, converted C20, now forms part of house. Interior: large,
heavily moulded spine beam in gabled wing. Also large open fireplace with
run-out stops. Spine beam with ogee stops. C17 doors, some reset. To first
floor, plank and muntin partitions, with moulded muntins. Further chamfered
spine beams with ogee stops. All remaining joists throughout house are
chamfered, with ogee stops. Original roof with one queen post truss with collar
and struts. Some stone flagged floors on ground floor.
