Stables and grooms' accommodation. Early C18. Sandstone rubble, stone slate
roofs. A central block with two hipped ends dying into centre pedimented section
of roof which carries square wood bell turret with lead cupola, flanked by
low wings each side; the steep pediment with dentilled cornice, and modillion
cornice returning to ridge of lower wings. Centre block has clock in pediment
over 2-storey 3-windowed front with 2-light C19 casements to wood lintols over
2 multi-paned pseudo-sashes; central 6-panel fielded door in moulded surround
and pediment. Remains of three stalls within. Single storey wings, left
2-windowed, door and 1-window, multi-pane; right, rendered, small single casement
and 3 segmental-headed garage doors. This is the major remnant from the former
Manor house, now rebuilt further up the hill (qv Lydney Park).
