north east of gate to churchyard
from school, Church of St. John the
Baptist

Lamp-post: late C19; cast-iron standard, wrought-iron decoration.
Post has flared base, fluted stem, cross bar and moulded top.
Above a swan-neck top with wrought-iron decoration, dropping to a
clear glass ball, general shape a sphere. The ball is open top
and bottom, consisting of 12 pieces of glass in a copper frame;
Wide central band, decorated with acroteria; at top a pierced
ring, fanning out above with crinkled edge. Now adapted to
electricity, originally probably oil. A little of glass broken.
One of two. Base marked '..... & Padmore, Gloucester', (first
word not legible, probably Hardy).
