Row of shops. c1865, some minor alterations C20. Stucco over
brick; quoins. Plan: row of 6 shops forming the enlarged
ground floor of the north-east return of No.17 Palmeira Square
(qv). Fluted pilasters with capitals of clustered brackets,
entablature with semi-circular acroteria containing acanthus
leaf design above the brackets, remains of cast iron cresting
at east end. The bracket capitals divide the fascia of the
shops; plinth and dado below; recessed openings with glazed
doors to single-fronted shops, most with display windows in
