Terrace of 4 houses, now shops and offices. Mid C18, with C19
and C20 alterations. Squared coursed sandstone with ashlar
dressings. Slate roofs with stacks over the party walls.
Double-depth plan with the staircases at the back and a
further rear extension.
Each house has 3 storeys above a cellar and 3 bays under an
eaves cornice. The windows on the first and second floors have
plain surrounds and are sashed without glazing bars except for
those to No.46 which are C20 top-hung casements. Those of the
top floor of Nos 48 & 50 have shutter boxes, while most of the
windows at the back have thick glazing bars. The ground floors
are occupied by recent shop fronts, while the right-hand bay
of No.44 is pierced by the entrance to Music Room Passage,
presumably made in the late C18 to lead to Sun Street.
