Town house with later shop. C17, later remodelled. Incised
stucco on timber frame jettied to 2nd floor; asbestos slate
roof. Double-depth plan including rear extension. 3 storeys;
2-window range. Early/mid C19 hornless sashes: early/mid C19
twelve-pane sashes within moulded architraves to 2nd floor;
C18 tripartite sashes to 1st floor with thick glazing bars of
centre lights removed. Ground floor has late C19 or early C20
full-width transomed double shop front with dressed granite
stall risers, moulded sills, end pilasters and moulded
entablature with fascia; shallow splayed central doorway with
glazed and panelled door. Set into ope wall is a carved
medieval fragment probably from the former friary. INTERIOR:
ground and 1st floors altered late C20. 2nd floor has three
C18 two-panel doors, 1 with bolection moulding, and a c1800
winder stair. Roof structure not inspected but said to be C20
replacing original structure with pegged trusses and evidence
for having been thatched originally.
