SW6225 FORE STREET, Porthleven 631-1/6/256 (South East side) 22/05/90 Chapel-keeper's house immediately west of Methodist Church

Chapel-keeper's house. 1883. Slatestone rubble with granite dressings including plinth and mullioned windows, buttresses end corbels and dormer copings; grouted slate roof with projecting verges with pierced barge boards and chamfered collars; crested clay ridge tiles. Small rectangular plan. Gothic Revival style. 2 storeys with 1st-floor rooms partly in roof space; symmetrical front with central gabled dormer over porch flanked by 2 ground-floor windows. End buttresses and buttressed porch with shouldered doorway with 4-pane overlight and framed door with V-jointed boards; 2-light windows including central windows to each gable end. INTERIOR not inspected. The Methodist Church (qv) and its keeper's house, including the site, were built at a cost of ยป3,500. (Kelly's Directory of Devonshire and Cornwall: 1902-1902: P. 273).
