History in Structure

Drive Bridge over River Gaunless

A Grade II Listed Building in Bishop Auckland, County Durham

Bishop Trevor's Bridge, Auckland Park (RD 1757).

Uploader's Comments

Viewed from the north-west side of the bridge, the structure is supported by massive abutments, making it one of the most enduring buildings across the River Gaunless, although the carriageway is considered to be rather narrow! Richard Trevor was Bishop of Durham from 1752 until 1771, and was a generous benefactor to Auckland Park.
