Almshouses. Probably C17; altered and restored. Sandstone
random rubble, the east side with scored render, composition
tile roof. L-plan formed by a range on a north-south axis,
containing Nos 1-6 and attached to the north gable of the
Chapel of St John, with a westward return at the north end
containing Nos 7-11. Single storey plus attics, one window to
each unit, the main range with windows and doorways mostly in
alternating pairs and the west range with windows and doors
mostly in single alternation. The doorways are square-headed
with hoodmoulds and board doors, and the windows, which are
set in round-headed blank arches, are C20 three-light
casements. Chimneys behind the ridge. Rear: low single-storey
C20 additions and dormer windows. Forms group with Lathom
House Chapel of St John (q.v.) and with associated Stable
Block to rear (q.v.).
