A Grade II Listed Building in Central, Swindon

Swindon Cricket club's Victorian pavilion

Uploader's Comments

Cricket in Swindon was mentioned in 1823. Some doubt exists regarding the exact date of formation of the Club but there is no doubt that a game, under the name of the Swindon Cricket Club, was reported in the Wiltshire Gazette of 22nd August, 1844. In a Gazette of 1846 it states that the Club was founded in 1844. The first cricket match at the County Ground took place in 1894 and the pavilion dates from that time.
