This cross erected in fields near Guillemont, France, was brought here to the church for preservation with the authority and permission of the Graves Committee and Officers of the 52nd Regiment.
The 52nd Light Infantry was based in Oxford, England when it became the 2nd Battalion.
In 1916 the 2nd Ox and Bucks fought on the Somme battlefield at Delville Wood and Guillemont and on 13 November in the battle of Beaumont Hamel.
