Former inn, now 3 houses. Mid/late C17 (VCH), with later alterations.
Colourwashed brick with brick string course and wood modillion cornice. Old tile
roof with brick ridge and internal stacks. U-plan with central carriageway. 2
storeys and attic; 5-window range. No.27 has flat 6-panelled door in simple wood
frame, and hood on shaped brackets. Red Horse House has 2 late C19 public house
windows; window has on right adjoining half-glazed door. Surrounds have wood
pilasters, entablatures and decorative sills. Arched central lights and engraved
glass. Leaded light casements; cross windows under gauged brick flat arches to
ground and first floors. Attic with 5 pedimented 2-light roof dormers. Shaped
plaster panel in centre of first floor. 2 inn sign brackets. Interior: No.27 has
some chamfered ceiling beams. Winder stairs. Old plank doors with strap hinges;
2-panelled door with H-L hinges and front door with large L-hinges. To rear
stable wing converted to house late C20.
