Milepost. Mid C19, cast-iron post with triangular front and
sloping flat top, raised panel to right face with lettering
SALISBURY / 16, panel to left with SHASTON / 4, chamfered front of
post with name of parish, DONHEAD ST ANDREW. One of a series of
cast-iron mileposts on the A30, made by Cockey a firm of
ironfounders in Frome. Salisbury to Shaftesbury road turnpiked
1787-88.
