17/09/73 Lifeboat Shed

GV II

Former Lifeboat shed and watchtower, now used as council store
and studio. c1860. Rubble with granite quoins and red brick
arches and flush strings; dry slate roofs with projecting
eaves with exposed moulded rafter ends and purlins; crested
red ridge tiles. T-shaped plan. Italianate style. 2-storey
tower, single-storey boat shed. Round-arched single-light
windows except group of 3 lights to first floor front of
tower; large 3-light transomed window under segmental arch to
rear end of boat house; front doorway under similar arch with
original transomed fanlight over part-glazed doors; oculae to
tower gables. Simple interior where inspected.
