No.37
GV II
Villa. Early 1830s. Probably by Philip Sambell. Stucco on
masonry; dry Delabole slate hipped roofs with wide eaves
carried on moulded brackets; cast-iron ogee gutters. Plan of 2
approximately square double-depth blocks with a link building
between. 2 storeys. Panelled giant corner pilasters; moulded
stucco architraves to sash windows with marginal panes
possibly copies of originals. Original 2-window west entrance
front has approximately central porch with doorway into its
left-hand side. South garden front has original 3-window front
block on the left and C20 two-window front block on the right
in similar style to the original villa. There is an old
linking bay set back between. Canted bay windows to ground
floor of left-hand block. INTERIOR not inspected but likely to
be of interest.
