Mission Church of St Mary and
adjoining lych gate and chest tomb

GV II

Mission church, adjoining lychgate and adjoining chest tomb.
c1850s. Local rubble stone with granite dressings; dry
Delabole slate roofs with coped gable ends. Rectangular
aisle-less plan with lychgate adjoining ritual west (NW) end,
south porch and probable vestry towards east end of south
wall. Early English style. South-west elevation has depressed
2-centred arch to lychgate on left then 2-light window,
gable-ended porch with pointed-arched doorway with planked
door, 2-light window, vestry projection and a single-light
window, all lancets (boarded up at time of survey). East end
has 3 stepped lancets and gable ventilator; west end has
bell-cote carried on wooden brackets. Kenwyn Road side of
vestry has original iron gates. INTERIOR not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: early C19 granite chest tomb with
chamfered plinth and moulded cornice to lid and worn
inscription adjoins vestry.
