Shop and dwelling. Early C17. Brick; roughcast to
timber-frame; slate to front pitch, plain tile to rear; common
brick end stack. 2-storeys; 3-window range: C19, 2-light
windows with inward opening casements. Early C20 shopfront:
central 2-leaf, part-glazed stable doors, and plain casement
overlight, flanked by plate glass windows with central glazing
bars; chamfered cases and fluted consoles; to right, late C19,
6 panel door in plain case including stud; chamfered bracket
under deep jetty. Right returned side has early C19 brickwork
to first floor, and under passage way to Rose and Crown Inn
(qv), C18 and C19 brick work, with exposed main frame posts.
Rear elevation has mutilated timber-framing with C18 brick
infill; to first floor, C18, 3-light window with central metal
casement, set in opening with chamfers and mortices of
original mullions visible; C19, 2-light casement to ground
floor. INTERIOR: large ceiling beams exposed to ground floor.
