Small house at end of row. Late C17, C19 fenestration. Painted
stone front, rendered gable ends, asbestos-cement slate roof.
Small two storeys and attic 1-windowed house with parallel
back range, entered at gable end. 4-pane sashes. C19 flush
panelled door far left. On gabled return a stone-cheeked porch
with flat slab top covers a C19 plank door, and the back has
two 4-pane sashes. Raised verge to left end, and lofty
rendered stack to right, raised on a stone base. Interior has
beaded- edge ceiling joists, a deep ingle fireplace to heavy
wood bressumer, a wood winder stair alongside, a bread oven,
and early plank doors with wood latches. Ceiling height to
ground floor c 2.2m. The small scale of the building gives a
clue to its early provenance, and little has been done to the
fabric in the C20. In the garden is a former dovecote (qv).
One of the more significant survivals historically in this
street.
