GV II

Shop and flat, formerly house. C16 and C17. Timber-framed and
rendered with slate gabled roof. 3 storeys with cellar and
stack behind ridgeline. The front has 2 small square
double-hung sash windows over one square and one vertical
double-hung sash on first floor. Ground floor has a C20,
slightly bowed small-paned display window, recessed into wall
and early C19 doorcase with flat hood and simple pilasters.
C20 stained timber door with arched head and strap hinges.
INTERIOR: a timber frame of C16 with spine beam and flat
section joists with soffit tenons and diminished haunches. One
joist has mortices for former partition. Frame was probably
one with No.66 (qv). Eaves raised in late C16/early C17 and a
spine beam is carried on moulded corbel of this time. Cellar
has recess with moulded brick arch.
