GV II

House, formerly the vicarage. c1820; late C19 rear wing, and
1890s work by Guild of Handicrafts. Brick with ashlar
dressings, plastered return and rear wing; hipped slate roof
with brick stacks. L-plan. 3 storeys; 3-window range. 1st
floor sill band and altered top cornice. Windows have rubbed
brick flat arches; 12-pane tripartite sashes to ground floor;
4-pane horned sashes to 1st floor; 2nd floor pivoted
casements. Entrance has Tuscan porch and door with stained
glass panel. Return lateral stacks; lantern to left end. Left
return has 16-pane sash to 1st floor and 2-storey, 4-window
wing with leaded casements and hipped canted bay window with
porch under tile roof to left. Right return has 2-storey
canted bay and French windows.
INTERIOR: some panelled rooms with deep relief plaster friezes
and fireplaces by Guild of Handicrafts, including peacock,
tulip and daffodil motifs.
