GV II

House in row. Early C19 front, possibly on earlier fabric.
Flemish bond brickwork, slate roofs, brick stacks. Unlike
adjacent properties, which were modified over the centuries,
this appears to have been a substantial or complete rebuild of
the C18 or C19, with street frontage on deep back wing;
originally it would have formed part of the continuous
medieval terrace of Nos 34-51 (qqv).
3 storeys and basement, 3-windowed; 12-pane sashes to second
floor, 16-pane below, all to fine brick voussoirs, central
fluted keystone with pediment, and stone cills. Basement
grille immediately left of doorway, far right. Good 6-panel
door to fanlight in fluted pilaster doorcase to open pediment,
and panelled reveals. Small plinth, coped parapet, large
stack, left. Back has hipped slate roof over 3-storey
2-windowed wing with 4-pane sashes and at glazed conservatory
full width to ground floor. Plain brick party wall to No.48,
with further stack, small gap to No.51 (qv) to south. INTERIOR
not inspected.
