Hotel and shop. c1857. Stucco; slate(?) roof; various brick
stacks. Symmetrical plan, with C20 bays to north.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, attic and cellar; 19-window range: plain
sashes with moulded architraves and hoods, with 2 tripartite
1/1: 1/1: 1/1 sashes; continuous cast-iron balcony; similar
fenestration with sillband; pilasters with enriched capitals,
to moulded frieze and central entablature surmounted by
dragon; parapet with balustrade and various finials. Ground
floor of engraved stucco with vermiculated quoins: part-glazed
panelled double-doors and overlight, with later cast-iron
canopy; plain sashes, and, to left, two 3-light windows with
moulded glazing bars.
INTERIOR: Lobby: plasterwork; staircase with cast-iron and
turned balusters; panelled hall. Dining Room: C20 panelling;
panelled ceiling beams; plasterwork ceiling. Judge's Room:
panelling; plasterwork ceiling with pendants; chamfered stone
fireplace with carved lintel. Melgrays: cellar: reused C20
panelling and C19 balusters.
