House. Early C17 core, C18 refronting, early C19 and C20 rear
lean-tos. Timber-framed and plastered with traces of ashlar
lining, clay tiled roof, also corrugated asbestos cement, red
brick stack. L shaped plan. 2 storeys, attic and cellar. Front
elevation: 3 window range, half hipped mansard roof with
shallow raking dormers, stack off-centre to S. Ground and
first floor windows 2-light C19 casements with moulded
architraves, glazing bars, 4x4 panes. Dormers similar, C20 4x3
panes. Doorway at S end with simple hood on console brackets,
C20 flush bead moulded boarded door, hinged cellar shutters
below windows. Carriageway (part of No.10 (qv)) at N end, flat
head, C19 cast-iron corner braces, C19 2-leaf boarded doors,
one with wicket. Rear W elevation: mainly comprises early C19
timber-framed single storey lean-to but roof falls from high
under house eaves, corrugated asbestos cement and plastic roof
sheeting. 2 early C20 casement windows, 1 and 2-light, C20
rear addition at N end, felted roof, C20 2-panel door, upper
panel glazed.
INTERIOR: principal outer C17 framing members seen on first
floor, C20 refurbished. Cellar walling of flint cobble and
brick with central dividing wall with arched connecting
opening, blind arches, around all outer walls. Rear lean-to
early C19, 2 tie-beams cross central area.
